Turn Heart Light On for Shemere

As many of you are aware, Shemere is a friend to so many in the Atlanta community. She has been active and has supported many functions for many different organizations.
Unfortunately, she suffers from Congestive Heart Failure and has been fighting this for many years. This past year, her heart has weakened tremendously, and she has gone from a heart defibrillator to a heart pacemaker. Her Doctor has said that she is a good candidate for the heart transplant list, but there are requirements that must be met.
This is where we need to step in and help Shemere with this fundraiser. Some of these requirements must prove she has support from family and friends before, during and after her surgery, be financially stable to pay for the operation, sustain herself after the surgery, and be able to maintain the purchase of rejection medication. They also must be 90% “dead” to be put on the list. Shemere is there. Who knew these individuals had to worry about this and continue everyday life. Well, that is just it, they can’t. Shemere needs us now more than ever.
Shemere is a 38 year-old single mother of a 13 year-old daughter who is a 7th grader in Middle School this year. Shemere is heartsick by what this is doing to her daughter and what it could do to her daughter if she were to die.
This of course piles on to the medical bills that are growing daily. Shemere works as a nurse in hospice care, taking care of others at the end of their lives, while she’s fighting for hers. She has had to drastically reduce her work hours to the minimum. Because of this, she no longer has medical insurance, a major loss of income, lost her home and car. She has gathered everything she and her daughter own and have moved into a one-bedroom apartment. And as Murphy’s Law would have it, the engine in her second-hand car just blew, and now she has no transportation.
The funds from this fundraiser will hopefully ease ONLY some of the financial pressure on Shemere and her daughter and position her to obtain the medical care and treatments she needs. She needs this support NOW! Please donate what you can to help Shemere out!
