Troop 46

This "scouting year" Troop 46 will be working towards earning Hiking and Backpacking merit badges. As opposed to the hiking and backpacking program we did several years ago, where we did a large majority of our hiking at Camp Cachalot, this year we would like to travel a little more, take the scout on hiking trips on trails that they have not been on yet and ultimately provide the scouts with new and exciting experiences.
Throughout the year the scouts will be completing several 10 and 15 mile hikes as well as one 20 mile hike and then finishing our year next August with our "Super Activity," a 30+ mile hike of the Mahoosuc Trail which is often regarded as one of the most difficult sections of the Appalachian Trail.
Although hiking and backpacking are generally considered to be cheap and easy activities, they can still cost quite a bit of money. Troop 46 has some new and young scouts who will need to be outfitted with the proper gear and older scouts who will need new or replacement gear. Food and travel costs can add up fairly quickly. And then replacing or purchasing new Troop equipment, such as water purification, fuel for stoves, backpacking tents, new first aid kit and other essential items, can cost quite a bit.
As a way to give back to the community that has supported us Troop 46 pledges to do one (1) full day of community service for every $200 raised.
Please help Troop 46 get out of the city and into some adventure!!
