After appearing on Glee, it became apparent to Ann Thomas, that there was no simple way to connect producers, directors, and casting agents with the transgender talent anywhere in the country. It greatly narrowed the opportunities for many talented individuals. Unless a person is well connected already, or gets lucky with being discovered on Youtube, they end up mixed in with non-transgender people, all vying for recognition. All this without care and understanding on the part of the agency.
Ann can help interpret the needs of production staff, and educate them on any aspects they are missing that need clarity. Ann also requests sides (sections of a script that a character is in), or entire scripts if necessary to make sure it meets our community requirements of respect.
Ann wants to provide support for actors, standup comedians, public speakers, behind the scenes staff, and hopefully more as this company expands gradually with time. Within the category of transgender, they might be looking for different looks and types of transgender people. Being part of that community, Ann has a much better idea of what the transgender community needs are. She also wants to help provide this service to those that may not feel they fit squarely under the title of transgender, including intersex, genderqueer and gender fluid.
Ann is forming Transgender Talent to fill this gap. But she needs to be able to move forward with the company far more quickly than her busy schedule allows. Most of the busy things are just to try to survive, paying the bills, and working overtime at the day job she has. She gets no paid time off, so if she doesn’t work, she doesn’t have income.
In order to get this off the ground, she needs funding assistance so that this company. The initial amount shown is a short term estimate in order to get legal requirements met and prepare for business during business hours. It has been changed a numbner of times as milestones are met and estimates have been updated.
