Tragic event kills Mum & Baby

On Wednesday 26th April for most of you this will of been a normal day, for our family this day was the beginning of a nightmare.

On that morning Nicola Moores aged just 28 had a severe epileptic fit and her seizure tragically put her in a position face down in her pillow which suspectedly caused suffocation however we are yet to find out. Nic was 33 weeks pregnant with her first child.

Nic started having fits 18 months ago then got diagnosed with epilepsy just 12 months ago and since then she managed it well and we always knew when she was having them.

Throughout the pregnancy, her fits increased because the levels of medication in the blood kept dropping therefore she had to have regular blood tests and her medication dosage was increased.

Nic and Alan's only dream was to have a baby, she first became pregnant four years ago and sadly miscarried at 10 weeks due to an ovarian cyst. Shortly after Nic was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries. She was unable to fall pregnant until Autumn 2016 Nic miraculously fell pregnant, they were so excited.

She was continuously worrying throughout the pregnancy until she reached 30 weeks when she could finally relax knowing that everything was going to be okay.

On the Friday before her maternity leave Lacey Mae's pram arrived, Nic was ecstatic as she arranged for the pram to be stored at the neighbours to not jinx anything by having it at home.

Wednesday morning Nic was found face down in her pillow which was a typical position she would end up in during her fits. She was unresponsive. Emergency services were called immediately. CPR was performed. Numerous paramedics were fighting to save Nicola and her unborn baby who still had a heartbeat at the time.
Nic was rushed to Manchester Royal Infirmary where they delivered the baby in resus. Unfortunately, there were no signs of life. They tried to resuscitate baby but couldn't and both Nicola and Lacey Mae passed away.

Nicola will be remembered for the kind hearted beautiful loving strong person she was. Nicola was such a caring person who loved her job helping the elderly in a care home. She will very much be missed but Mum and Lacey Mae are at peace up in heaven.

Sadly our family have lost a daughter, sister, fiance, auntie and granddaughter. I cannot explain the pain that we are all going through day by day, minute by minute.

The costs raised will go towards the funeral of Nicola and her little angel Lacey Mae and any money left over will go towards a charity which supports Epilepsy. Any donation is greatly appreciated no matter how small.

Thank you so much
