Working together for Logan

Donation protected
To a young mother, a diagnosis of breast cancer can almost make the world stop turning.  Concern for her 2 young boys was almost more than Tracy Wood of Mt. Airy NC could bear.  Soon after the surgery, treatments started.  Sure there have been headaches, weakness, and pain, but her motto has been, "I'm fighting like a girl!"  Although questions filled her heart, her faith never wavered.

Then the unspeakable happened.  A year earlier, her 7 year old son, Logan, was rushed to the emergency room after being hit in the head by a softball at a little league game.  The MRI found no concern as far as the ball injury, but something more alarming was detected.  The doctors found a tumor. The growth was small and non-invasive and eventually led to a decision to test again in one year, if no other symptons surfaced.

May 6th, only a few weeks after Tracy began her radiation treatments for breast cancer, her son had another MRI.  The tumor was growing which would require brain surgery, followed by radiation and chemotherapy.  He was diagnosed with a carniopharynioma.   Because of the risk and severity of the surgery, the doctors will wait until the 2015 school year is over.

Tracy Wood has given to her community over and over again in her adult life.  She has organized and hosted an event called, "The Gathering" which brings neighbors, churches, and communities together every August to donate supplies and services to school age children.  Clothes, shoes, tolitries, bookbags, coats, paper, pencils, crayons and many other items, along with haircuts were given freely to hundreds of children and families in need.  At times, her efforts seemed daunting, but her determination always won out as the contributions and volunteers came together and the events have all been successful.

Helping her church family with food distributions to low income families on a bi-weekly basis has also been a part of Tracy's life.  Christmas always brought the opportunity for her to gather names of underpriveldged children who might not even have a gift under the tree.  She would rally friends, neighbors, relatives together to give those children a memorable, happy Christmas.

Raising a family, working, being an active part of her church, and striving to meet the needs of others, all come naturally for Tracy.  She has never received nor expected any recognition and of course no compensation, for her commitment to help those in need.  The 42 year old mother of 2 has just always followed her heart and her reward has been knowing and seeing  that she made a difference in the lives of so many.

Now...now, it's time for the surrounding communities, to rally together on her behalf.  Extremely high deductibles and medical costs are looming ahead for her precious family.  Loss of work for her and her husband, taking the time for the medical care needed, will be astounding.  Please help us as we show this special young lady and her young family that we care.  Allow God to use you to help meet their needs.  Prayers are coveted, donations will be greatly appreciated.  All monies received will go directly to Tracy and Barry Wood of Mt. Airy NC.

Please send an ecouraging note, a prayers, and if possible, a donation.  We thank you in advance for your generous contributions.
