WHAT IS THE CAUSE?
Barcelona TransPerfect employees, friends and families will be taking part in a Mountain Challenge. The event is in partnership with the Barcelona local children’s cancer charity AFANOC (Associació de Familiars I Amics de Nens Oncològics de Catalunya).
The goal is to raise 50,000 EUR and have at least 150 people participate. Do you want to take part? Contact [email redacted].

In order to participate all adults should be donating or fundraising 200 EUR for the orienteering levels. For the 21 km Trail run 25 EUR and 50 EUR for the 36 km Trail run.

When he was 18 months old, my son Leon was diagnosed with leukemia and we received amazing support from a small non-profit that helps families of children with cancer: AFANOC. The invasive treatments needed to fight cancer mean that you are living in and around the hospital for many weeks. Throughout this time, the family’s day-to-day tasks continue alongside the treatment and can add to the struggle – having a decent meal, being able to shower, organizing supervision for the children when both parents visit the doctor - something as commonplace as a playroom for the kids to help beat the boredom is a real blessing. AFANOC provide fridges, lockers, game rooms and volunteers, as well as housing for families of patients from out-of-town. They are a small organization, but trust me they make a big difference. AFANOC was there for us during the tough times, and now that Leon has recovered we feel it is our time to give back. A mi hijo Leon le diagnosticaron leucemia cuando tenía 18 meses y recibimos el magnífico apoyo de una pequeña asociación no lucrativa que ayuda a las familias de niños con cáncer: AFANOC. Debido a los severos tratamientos invasivos necesarios para combatir el cáncer, acabas viviendo durante semanas en el hospital y tu vida gira en torno a él. A lo largo de este periodo de tratamiento, las obligaciones familiares del día a día no se detienen y pueden suponer un esfuerzo añadido — poder hacer una comida decente, darse una ducha u organizar el cuidado de los niños cuando ambos padres visitan al médico—, así que algo tan habitual como una sala de juegos para entretener a los más pequeños resulta una auténtica bendición. AFANOC facilita frigoríficos, taquillas, salas de juegos y voluntarios, además de alojamiento para las familias de pacientes que acuden al hospital procedentes de otras localidades. Se trata de una organización de pequeño tamaño, pero creedme si os digo que su labor marca la diferencia. AFANOC nos acompañó en los momentos difíciles y, ahora que Leon se ha recuperado, sentimos que es el momento de devolverle el favor. Through the TransPerfect Mountain Challenge they will be fundraising to make the house of Xuklis even more of a home from home for the families and kids staying there. All money raised will go towards new boilers, new flooring, internet connection for all the apartments and much more.
All funds will be transferred directly to AFANOC.
