Tory is going back in on Monday the 25th for another retina surgery, please keep him in your prayers as the healing will be very intense and require him to be face down on a massage table for 5 days straight!
Tomorrow from 11-9p Red Brick Pizza in Ventura (Kohls shopping center) will be donating a portion of their proceeds to Tory. We will be there at 12:30, however you can stop in anytime for delicious food for a great cause :) Thanks!
This is Christie- my phone died (of course) I have an update! Tory's surgeon Dr. Frombach just spoke with us and the surgery went VERY WELL! There are tears in the retina, the lens had to be removed ( new lens implant later) but the macula (responsible for vision) is in perfect condition!! There are future surgeries needed but from the Dr.S mouth he said he has Better than a 50/50 chance of vision being restored! We are so blessed and happy! "” Christie DuVarney.
UPDATE : the ultrasound showed what we had feared, the eye is still very severely injured and needs an immediate surgery to put it back together on the back side. This has to be done before we will have any idea regarding future vision. We are eagerly waiting for the surgery appointment which may be as early as Friday. The sooner the better time is really of the essence. WIll keep you all updated and please keep the prayers coming.
More good news! Tory's eye continues to look better and better and today he was cleared for an ultrasound so that means his eye is stable enough for the ultrasound, we have that on Wednesday, the Ultrasound will finally give us the view of whats going on with the back eye injury and will predict what happens next. Stitches came out today of the front eye injury. Prayers are working!
Appointment went well- your prayers are working, the lens of Tory's eye has moved back to a normal position which is a miracle. There are at least 2 surgeries coming up in the near future, our doc is very optimistic and continues to be surprised by his progress. Next Monday we hope the eye is stable enough for an ultrasound. Keep the prayers coming- it's working!!!
New years come and new years go,
Pieces of time all in a row.
As we live our life, each second and minute,
We know we're privileged to have you in it.
Our appreciation never ends
For our greatest blessings: our family and friends.
Christmas Eve Morning Tory DuVarney was in a surfing accident, the tip of his surfboard entered his right eye with such force that the eyeball was popped. They call this a "ruptured globe". Once we arrived at the Emergency Room and they did a CT scan we were told we would need an emergency surgery to save the eye. After a very long day we got the news that they did not need to remove the eye and it would be left in gods hands to see how it heals up and what vision could be restored. There will be more doctors appointments, specialists and future surgeries, but we believe Tory's "Vision Will Be Restored". Tory is the founder of Handsome Devil Clothing and is therefore self employed and unfortunately uninsured, the costs we face will be great however we will stop at nothing to make sure he has the best care and the best outcome. Your monetary donation is appreciated and will be used only for medical expenses however we would like to ask you for one more thing; A prayer. We believe with our heart and soul that is even more important than money. Thank You for every dollar and every prayer.
Michelle and I were shocked to just hear about your accident. We believe in great science and from the updates, it looks as though you have some great surgeons fighting for your sight. Good luck, we're pulling for you!
