It is with great sadness we tell you, that Tim McCarthy passed away at home, early this morning surrounded by his family.
It is a great loss to our community, and an even greater loss to his family. Tim was a loving, caring and giving man, who thought nothing of lending a hand to anybody who needed it. In his all too short life, he accomplished much, as he worked hard, to successfully build a good life for himself and his family. He will be deeply missed!
Please keep Tim's wife, Duana and two daughters, Paige and Bailey in your thoughts and prayer, as they deal with this difficult loss.

ON March 4, 2014, Tim McCarthy, 46, was given the devastating diagnosis of Creutzfeldt-Jakob-Disease (CJD), a rare brain disease that is always fatal, usually within a year from the onset of symptoms. It has been a long road to arrive at this diagnosis, with Tim battling the symptoms of CJD since last summer.
Just recently, Tim had go give up his job of 10 years as an electrician with Halco, where he for several years installed residential solar powered heating systems throughout Central New York. While an avid outdoorsman, much of his spare time, he spent lending a helping hand to friends, neighbors, and strangers alike, while freely sharing his many skills and resources. He has always been the kind of guy many would be proud to call their friend.
However, at this time, he is no longer capable of working or driving, as his eyesight is limited and he can no longer walk without assistance. As the decline of his health is rapidly progressing, he now requires pain medication and around-the-clock care in his home.
On so many levels, this is devastating to his family: Wife Duana, who works full time at a dental office, and two daughters, Bailey, a Junior in High School and Paige, a college student, both also avid soccer players. Not only are they unexpectedly about to lose their husband and father, but Duana is also faced with mounting medical bills, and an increasing struggle to meet the mortgage payments to keep their home.
Therefore, friends of the family are stepping up to raise funds to ensure, that Duana and the girls will be able to pay the bills and keep their home. Watching the heartbreaking and rapid decline of Timmy's health, and shortly facing the loss of their loved one, should be enough. They should not have to also deal with financial uncertainties of an all-too-fast-approaching future without him.
We therefore plead, that you will step up with us, and help secure the future of Timmy's girls, while giving him the peace of mind knowing, that they will still have a home, after he is gone.
Please consider to donate to this urgent cause today! You can choose to make a one-time donations, or a monthly re-occuring donation. Any donation in any amount is greatly appreciated.
Also, we kindly ask that you help us spread the word by sharing this information in any way you can on- and offline!
We met Tim on our jobsite while installing a solar system at Silver Strand Bed & Breakfast. We are deeply saddened to hear of his passing. Words cannot describe how kind and thoughtful he was to us while working in our home. We wish the best to the beautiful family he has left behind.
