Build a Special Needs Party Room

This Is Where You Come In...

We are asking for your support. We are proposing to design and convert our 14' x 28' storage room into a "green" party room, designed specifically to meet the needs of the special needs child.

We are planning to use sustainable products whenever possible, including furniture and walls with no-VOC paints, natural or green flooring, Fair Trade housewares, secondhand decorations, and (at movie time), small  children will sit on or in old rubber tires (did we forget to mention that old rubber tires are made from the sap of rubber trees, and can be recyled into toys.)

We will sponsor a design competition; the winner will design the space with input from our customers who have special needs children.

And Once The Room is Ready...

Our menu was designed by Della Miller, a nutritionist, who has been crafting children's menus for pre-schools and daycare centers for more than 25 years. Our parties are free of corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors, artificial flavors, artificial ingredients, and most common allergens.  Many of our baked goods and savory options are organic and we use organic, food-based India Tree® Nature's Colors food coloring, decorating sprinkles and decoratives. In addition to our regular menu, options include: vegan, vegetarian, all-organic, gluten-free, and nut-free -- everything is scrumptious. We embrace children who have special dietary requirements and no request is out of bound.

The Toy Emporium is a very special children's place with unique toys and books that teach, encourage imagination, and celebrate diversity. Our showroom features timeless and trendy toys; a STEM Science Center; a "Special Needs" toys section; children's literature; multicultural dolls from around  the globe; custom children's stationery; baby gifts; and party supplies. We even host themed parties for children with special needs.

Our Humble Beginnings...

This story begins with my trying to find quality gifts for my grandsons (that did not include rifles, guns, swords, soldiers or associated accessories). My quest took me to several European websites.

I discovered that the European consumers' refuse to buy the junk that is peddled in the US.

Although they purchase from the same manufacturers, European consumer demands better quality. And that is the short version of how then-dollslikeme.com was founded. Now we have a new name (The Toy Emporium) and an expanded mission.
