ASB goes to Tennessee!
Donation protected
Hey all! We are a dedicated group of awesome students from UMass Amherst that will be traveling to Memphis, Tennessee for spring break. There, we will be focusing on community service and involvement through urban gardening, a concept that has been crucial to areas that are considered "food deserts" where access to fresh food is extremely limited for the people that live there. While in Memphis, we will be partnering with the Mid-South Peace and Justice Center and working with organizations such as GrowMemphis, which will offer us the opportunity to learn about the importance of creating sustainable food networks that not only better the communities that have them, but improve the lives of their citizens. We prepare ourselves for this trip by attending weekly seminars where we discuss a variety of important issues that regard social justice throughout the semester. All the money goes to the Civic Interfaith Alliance which is a 501c3 non-profit organization that helps to fund our trip. We will keep you posted with the group's progress as the semester goes on!
