This is your opportunity to get involved in a genuine Olympic story. Alton Brown is a London-born Jamaican karate fighter who is in the last stages of the journey to Olympic qualification. If he succeeds he will be the whole Jamaican karate team - on his own! Right now, however, he’s juggling the training and travelling with a job and a family...every penny we manage to raise will help him to train more and get to the competitions he needs to secure his place and make history. With karate’s place at future Olympics now looking unlikely, Tokyo might be the only chance anyone gets to win Olympic karate gold. Alton is also part of FairFight: a charity which empowers vulnerable girls through martial arts training. He will be visiting India in October to work with local students and their instructors to share his knowledge and experience as a top-level competitor. As coordinator of our India project, I’m excited to have such a dynamic role model for our students. If we can help him to pursue his Olympic ambitions we will be showing the values of resilience, perseverance and what it takes to make dreams come true.
