Water and Supplies for Nepal

Donation protected
2 years ago, I had the opportunity to work in Nepal, in a village school outside Bhaktapur, and at a monastery near Boudha. I also spent quite a bit of time in Kathmandu. An experience like that seeps into your soul and holds on tight. It's heartwrenching just to see the devastation of places where I walked and worked, home to many new friends and colleagues.

I've written about Govinda Panthy's Nepali Karmic Circle on my blog, and there are several other posts, too, about the many wonderful people and places of Nepal I encountered.
My goal is to raise $4000, and to divide the sum between Govinda's school and the Volunteer Society Nepal (VSN), who also took wonderful care of me and are steadily delivering basic supplies to remote areas.

One of the school's biggest concerns is clean water, even moreso since the earthquake, and Govinda's funding will be used for water purification systems. The VSN will use any funds for basic staples such as rice, face masks, water purifiers, and temporary shelters.

In Buddhism, there are prayer wheels, spun clockwise to mimic the movement of the sun across the sky. As the wheels are spun, prayers are sent out to manifest wisdom and good karma, while destroying the bad karma. After spinning the wheels, if you have any “extra” good karma, please, do as the Tibetan Buddhists do, and dedicate it to others who may need it.

And if it's in the form of just a few dollars, know that it will be deeply appreciated, not only by the kids, but also by the many hard-working Nepalese who have a long road ahead of them.
