Buy Children's Beds for Help4Haiti
Donation protected
Haiti suffered a massive earthquake in 2010. More than 160,000 people were killed and over 1.5 million were displaced. Thousands of children were left homeless and without families or with families who could no longer care for them. The country has still not recovered for many reasons, but poverty is one. Many children are still homeless and many are born every day without anyone who cares for them or can support them.
In order to help some of these children, Help4Haiti.org partnered with a local pastor in Port au Prince. Pastor Olistin has a heart for these children and currently cares for about 150 placed in various homes and other temporary housing. He had a vision to build a permanent home for them and with the assistance of Help4Haiti.org and the support of Wildwood Baptist and others, it is finally become a reality.
Pastor Olistin obtained a piece of property outside of Port au Prince and started a new town called Onaville. As funds were raised, the orphanage has begun to take shape. With the approximately $45,000 raised since April, the first floor of the orphanage is nearing completion and we are hoping to move the first 70-75 children into their new home mid-September. Now we need to raise funds to purchase beds, table & chairs and kitchen appliances. We have enough so far to buy about 15 bunk beds at $500 each, but we need several more plus the other furniture. We also need to buy sheets, pillows, towels and other daily essentials. And in order to feed these children, we need sponsors. So far, only about 35 of the 150 children are sponsored.
How can you help? First, pray for these children and the work of Help4Haiti.org. Secondly, consider sponsoring a child for $35 each month or giving a one-time gift to help us complete this project. Future plans include a second floor for the rest of the kids, a school, a medical clinic and a church.
You can read more about Help4haiti.org on their website or go to our Facebook page to see more photos of the children and the orphanage.
Please donate as you are able. Every penny truly counts. Also, please share this fundraiser with your friends and family. Your help is so greatly appreciated. Be blessed!
