I'm very fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in the Semester at Sea program. My friends lovingly refer to SAS as a better version of "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody on Deck." In a nutshell, it is study abroad program in which students take classes on a cruise ship; we also get the chance to explore 14 countries with our friends and enhance our lives by expanding our knowledge of the world (more information can be found at semesteratsea.org).
Semester at Sea is a non-profit organization. The tuition that we pay goes towards faculty and staff salaries, fuel/oil costs, room and board, etc. Overall, the trip costs about $25,000. I did receive a great deal of financial aid, but I'm still a little bit short. That's where you come in :]
Before you donate, I'll tell you a little bit about myself. I am a junior at John Carroll University pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing. I hope to change the world through telling stories; community service is my strongest passion. When I'm not writing, I'm glued to my camera, taking pictures of everything in sight or in the kitchen whipping up a delicious concoction. I've always loved to travel and am thankful for my family's support in my dream of becoming a more wordly, intelligent woman.
I appreciate donations of any size. I'm a firm believer in reciprocation, so if you donate any amount of money, you will recieve an ebook when I return including pictures, travel tips and stories. Please e-mail me (via this page) if you're interested in getting that ebook; I look forward to hearing from you!
