Post-earthquake relief fund Nepal

Dear all,

We are all just coming to terms with the fact that Nepal has been hit with a massive, devastating earthquake. The implications of this disaster are still unclear, but there has been undoubted loss of life and property. Many friends have asked how they can help, so without necessarily having even thought about where exactly these funds will go, I wanted to start a fundraiser that we can then mobilise immediately towards relief efforts. As those who know Nepal well will know, it is not the easiest place to carry out relief work, so any help we can get could be critical. Since I am far away from home, this is also a small way to try and do something about such a tragic situation.

Even as the funds come in, I will work to identify the right avenue to use the money towards the good of the people most affected by this tragedy. Please note that it is not my intention to carry forward a long term funding campaign for this; as soon as we can identify a reliable coordinated organisation working towards this, I plan to divert this fundraising campaign there, as they will be far more likely to make the best use of these funds. Suggestions most welcome!

(The "Goal" amount is just an initial target, but either way the more we can raise the better.)
