Strong Wall Academy Serve-A-Thon 2015
All schools do fund raisers. This year, Strong Wall Academy has chosen to do it a little differently. Instead of selling products or asking for sponsorships for class competitions, SWA families request that their friends and family members sponsor their children in a day of service, the 2015 SWA Serve-A-Thon. The Serve-A-Thon not only raises funds for our school’s Annual Fund, but also reinforces the value of Christian service in our children. Serve-A-Thon donations supplement tuition costs of students who attend SWA on scholarship. While students spend the day serving others, they will also reflect on the way SWA serves them and the way the Serve-A-Thon donors are serving the school through their financial gifts. This year 10% of the funds raised through this program will be used to assist the planting of a new Christian school in Honduras! We are thankful to have this opportunity and look forward to seeing how God will use our school to reach out and serve our friends in Honduras.
On our Serve-A-Thon day, Friday September 4th, SWA students spread out across our community serving in various venues. Some of these included: putting together “Blessing Bags” for the Salt-Light Ministry (a local women’s shelter); a car wash to raise money for "Global Soap", a non-profit group who recycles soap to be distributed to needy families around the world; encouraging and thanking our fire fighter heroes with gift bags and supplying them with stuffed animals that will be given to children who have lost their home in a fire; spending time with our elderly community; and more!
Please prayerfully consider sponsoring a Strong Wall Academy student today and help them reach their personal goal of $300.00. Our school goal is to raise $25,000 in order to fund our scholarship programs and begin our project of starting a Christian school in Honduras. You can give online today through our Go Fund Me page. These service projects, and others that we will participate in this school year, are a meaningful way to help our children invest in the lives of others through service. Our clear challenge from God’s Word is to be doers of the Word and not just hearers (James 1:22-25). The 2015 Serve-A-Thon is a great way for us to start the year building that foundation.
