Support Hammond PD Athletes at WPFG

The World Police & Fire Games is a biannual athletic event open to active and retired law enforcement, fire service and EMS personal throughout the world. The goal of the WPFG is to promote sport and camaraderie in the public safety communities. This year three Hammond Police Officers will be competing in the shooting events at the World Police &Fire Games. They will be bringing some hometown pride to Northwest Indiana and theU.S.A. The"Game ofHeroes" will commence August 7th - August 16th ,2017 in Los Angeles, CA. Over 12,000 professional public safety athlete heroes from over 60 countries will be competing in 54+sports to qualify for over 1,600 medal sporting events. Participation in the WPFG is quite a financial undertaking.  Many of the athletes compete for their respectivede partments with their own time and money. Most municipal budgets do not allow sponsorship or time compensation for the WPFG. The average cost per participant could reach well into the thousands of dollars depending on the host country location. In our situation, shooting at six venues, each registration alone is over$500.00per shooter. Then factor in practice costs, transportation, lodging,  food, ammunition, targets,  etc., and you can see this is extremely expensive with personal monies. Indeed we volunteered to do this of our own accord. However ,through personal assets,  fundraisers and your gracious donation we will strive to represent theU.S.A. at this year's WPFG. Our commitment will be to"bring home the Gold" for Northwest Indiana and the U.S.A. in this world competition. 
This year Sgt. Mike Danko and Cpl. Marcus May will return to the games to compete in Trap, Skeet, and Sporting Clay events. Sgt Andrew Laurinec will make his debut at the games competing in Police Action Pistol and Police Pistol Combat events.
We are appealing you for a donation to help defray our costs, approximately $3,000 per shooter.  Any donation would be gratefully appreciated.
