Stick it to Murphy!!

Stick it to "Murphy", as in Murphy's Law.."whatever can happen, will happen...", the statement evolved at some point to "whatever can go wrong, will go wrong",  yeah, that guy.

So, we've been planning on launching a fund raising session for a while, and we're getting close (within weeks) to when we were intending to finalize it. Many of you that know us (Olivia and myslef - Steve) know that we've been planning to open a brick & mortar restaurant in Tampa (Seminole Heights - more specifically). Well, we're close...super close...within weeks of signing on the dotted line.

For those of you that don't "know us" and happened to click on our story - do keep reading please. We started a food truck (Kind Grinds - yes, we're changing the name for the restaurants, so people stop thinking we sell coffee. We sell Asian inspired food.) 1.5yrs ago with full intentions, from the very beginning, of starting a family of quick service, craft-kitchen restaurants that hires local chefs to run their location as their own place, making the full menu from scratch, serving our original items and adding to/adjusting the menu as needed and even influencing the decor of the physical space to capture their personality along with their city's - it will be THEIR restaurant if they can earn it. We want every location to reflect that some bootstrapping, crazy young guy/girl was given the shot to become what they've always dreamed of being and gave it their all to make it bad ass..because this is what it's all about. The chefs would eventually earn ownership of their location, add permanent items to menus at other locations, etc. etc. (Sounds like the theme of a cheesy reality show...but real). All while providing their locale (our customers) freshly made, high quality, unique tastes, originality, and a low to moderate price range. Get in and out fast (5-10min), or as slow as you'd like. A win-win for everyone.

Here's why you're seeing this a couple weeks earlier than planned. This week, we fell victim to check fraud. In hindsight, we should've caught on earlier, but instead of making excuses/blaming, let's jump to this: $2365 taken from us - personal checking account wiped to zero. Not a pleasant experience.

The bank claims no responsibility, and there is apparently no recourse for us. The scammers win.

Our original intention was to raise $5k to help with the build out/remodel of the restaurant space we're planning on moving into. That would've been a sufficient amount to add to our own investment and make this place bad ass on a low budget. After today, we're another $2365 further away from our goal, and will have to use our restaurant seed money to sustain. So, yes, part of this fundraiser is to help us recoup the loss, and the majority of it is the original goal, but it is ALL so that we can get this off the ground the right way. We are putting everything we have into this, so every bit counts.

What can go wrong, will go wrong - Sh*t, yeah. Many of you can relate to what we've endured to get to this point. It hasn't been easy, and no one should expect it to be. Obstacles await...but we know that going in, don't we ;)

We tried to keep this as short as poss, so if you want details on how we're planning on executing this plan, what exactly is our concept, what the heck happened with the check fraud, or anything else you're curious about just email, call, text, or Facebook us. Better yet, we'd be happy to discuss over beer(s)...in our new restaurant!!!
