Stay connected with Madison! After our summer vacation was over and we were starting to get back to our summer fun at home, life took a surprising turn. One evening, Madison developed swelling above her knee and was complaining of it hurting. Immediately the next morning, we went to the pediatrician's office where they sent us directly to Children's ER. Upon further testing they believed that Madison had a 3 inch tumor on her femur called Osteosarcoma. The next morning we were scheduled to meet with an Oncologist, have an MRI, CT Scan, and a biopsy of the tumor at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. It was a long day ending with more difficult news. The results of the CT Scan showed that the cancer had already spread to Madison's lungs. There were no other symptoms until the swelling that day. Madison appeared to be a healthy 8 year old full of energy. As things progress we hope to provide updates through this site, keep you informed of fundraising efforts, practical ways you can help the family, and a place for you to leave encouragement for Madison as she fights like a girl.
