Hello,
My name is Scott Remaley. I would love to share my story with you. I come from a broken / Dysfunctional family through out my life. I lived with my dad until I was 9 yrs old in New York when my dad died of lung cancer from smoking throughout his life. He was doing radiology but it was too late to catch all of the cancer. Doctors told him he had 6 months to live but beat those statistics for an additional 3 yrs. I think it was a miracle and in God's work that he beat the doctor's statistics by 3 yrs due to both of my parents being separated. My mom was nowhere to be found. Well it came just a few months left of my dad's life when my dad decided to relocate us to Florida. My younger sister suffers from Spina Bifida and had to be hospitalized in Florida due to a shunt being clogged. Well during the second day of me and my dad being at the hospital for my younger sister, my mom was in the same hospital at the same time due to an ulcer. My dad happened to spend some time with my mom. During the visit with my mom, My dad discussed about living with us as if he felt he didn't have too much longer to live and wanted us to be reunited so my younger sister and I could be with family in the event that he died. It just so happened that after my mom and my younger sister were discharged from the hospital, we all lived together until my dad passed. My mom took care of me and my sisters from that point on. Well my mom decided after a couple years of living with her to do illegal activities and make us sleep on the streets to support what ever issues she was having which was unpleasant for me. Mom was emotionally unpleasant to me. Also, my older sister has inherited my mom's emotional abuse towards me. My mom has been in and out of the prison system. Unfortunately, due to my mom, I wound up in foster care which was unpleasant as well. Shortly after turning 19, My mom got hit by a car and passed away. I wasn't there to see it, but I could imagine what she went through. I had been suffering from childhood for a long time even though I didn't seek help until 2013. I started seeing a mental health doctor in 2013 in Chapel Hill, NC. I was finally diagnosed with major depression between Chapel Hill, NC and Stroudsburg, PA. I also sought help with spending roughly 2 yrs in Newburgh, NY. Currently, I am in Chapel Hill getting treatment from UNC-Chapel Hill which has the best doctors around. I came to Chapel Hill with few resources and little income. I found myself struggling on the streets battling an appeals case with SSI. I have a lawyer working on my appeals case. I am going to court in October but the judge will not make a ruling until a month or two after the court date. I don't have much of a support system here in Chapel Hill. The shelters here are so full that it causes people to sleep on the streets months at a time. It's difficult to get in the shelter, and I have difficulty being around people. There are no other housing resources for me at this time. I attend a great church every Sunday and I feel I came to the right place to start a new life. I am raising money so I can have start my new life.
