PLEASE READ!!
In June of 2015, “Speak The Silence” was brought to light by Nick Libertucci and Fayth Starr. Everyday, we strive to make a difference in the lives of people who are effected by mental distress. We do our best to give everyone the same amount of love, attention and respect they deserve no matter what hardships they face or what demons they battle with. Our main goal is to get the entire world on the same page regarding mental health. We want everyone to treat a sick mind just like they would a sick body, and Speaking our Silence, sharing our personal stories and fighting for justice is how we are going to destroy stigma and save lives. Over the past couple of years, the world has unfortunately seen an increase in suicide. Wether it be celebrities, or even personal friends and family, it seems like the world isn’t doing all they can to help the helpless or hopeless. We want to do everything in our power to change that by educating and bringing awareness to the issue with real facts and real stories. A common denominator we found in people who face mental distress is that music has helped them out of the hardest times. Even in our own personal experiences, music has been the one life boat that has pulled us out of abandoned seas.

With that being said, we are very pleased to announce that on Saturday September 9th 2017, Speak the Silence will present “Music to Live For”, in honour of World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10th. Music to Live For will feature local bands sharing songs that have saved their lives, wether it be covers or their own. It will take place at The Jam Spot in Newmarket Ontario. Doors are at 7PM, and tickets are $10.00 at the door. All proceeds from Music To Live For will be directly donated to CASP; The Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention, and a representative from CASP will be coming to the event to explain how they plan to save lives with us. There will be great food, fantastic music, merchandise from STS and the bands that are preforming, and most importantly, its for an absolutely necessary cause.
If you can’t make it to this event and you would still like to donate to the cause, use this page to do so. All of the proceeds made from this gofund me will be donated to CASP as well. From this page we have a goal for 1000. Every little bit will help. To find out more about the CASP and how they would use the money please visit their website. We thank you in advance for fighting with us.

ABOUT STS
Silence. A term used to describe the absence of sound. Humans are busy specimen, and constantly have things on their minds that come out of their mouths, such as what was on TV last night, what the weather is like outside, or what the latest trending topics on twitter are. Silence on earth is rare. Hardly anything is completely eluded by noise. Its only really silent in a library, or after the last bit of thunder rumbles the earth during a storm. Even then, there is still white noise floating around. You might think that silence doesn’t really exisit.. but what if I told you a large group of people are silenced every single day. They have dark secrets and unidentified shadows that constantly follow them around. They think that they are not allowed to talk about what drives them to do things they wouldn’t normally do, because every time they try to open their mouths, a stigma steaming from people who don’t go through the same thing, is shoved right down their throats. They are terrified of healthy humans. They are terrified of being judged for something that is not even their faults. These are people who are mentally ill. They struggle with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, ADD, OCD either singularly or many all at once. They are silenced. They feel like they do not have a right to come forward with their demons, because of the lack of understanding and ridiculous assumptions that come from our society.
Speak The Silence is an organization that is planning to save the lives of many people all over the world who are afraid to speak up. We are people, who have suffered, but we have found our voices and we are ready to make a change. This is a community, and we allow anyone in who is willing to help make a difference in the lives of many. This is for the girl who self harms everyday and gets called a freak for it. This is for the boy who is afraid to tell his family he is seeing a therapist because he is ashamed. This is for the mother who has to go to work every single day to support her family, but her anxiety is so bad she can’t make it through the day without breaking down into tears. This is for anyone who has ever been told to “get over it” or “stop being so dramatic” when attempting to ask for help. WE UNDERSTAND YOU. Speak The Silence is the family you come to when you can’t get support from your own. We have been in your shoes and we know what its like. Speak the Silence is a reminder that you are not alone. We will be speaking up all over social media to get the attention of our stigmatic society. We are going to be raising awareness to make it known that we exist. You will not be judged here. This is a place to share anything and everything. We are not trained professionals. Just two young adults who have seen near death but have gotten out of it. Because of the lack of funding for mental health research, we felt like it was our duty to give people a safe place. We want to help as much as possible, so consider this free therapy. We will try our best to make the burden of mental illness a little bit easier to deal with.
Lets band together, and create a symphony of voices that cannot be ignored. WE ARE SPEAK THE SILENCE AND WE WILL SPEAK UP FOR THOSE WHO CAN’T.
