SOY at Southeast Asian Freedom Network Convening
Southeast Asian Freedom Network is made up of Southeast Asian grassroots organizing groups/individuals/organizations, including three queer southeast asian organizations, formed to increase our power, knowledge capacity and community building on a national level.
Quick facts:
Southeast Asian Americans have lower rates of education attainment when compared to the Asian population and the total population in Minnesota.
The majority of Southeast Asian Americans in Minnesota face extreme language barriers and lives in poverty.
According to the American Community Survey, 8.9% of Vietnamese, 26.2% of Hmong, 12.6% of Cambodian, and 14.5% of Laotian American families lived in poverty in Minnesota, compared to 8.2% of the total families.
So how do we and how do you help address these challenges and barriers? Well, here's a start!
In September, the Southeast Asian Freedom Network, including SOY, will have our first-ever convening and SOY needs your help to make this happen!
$50.00 will cover a days worth of healthy meals for one attendee so they can show up as their best self.
$100.00 will cover some tools for organizing and brainstorming for change (including writing materials, large poster paper for organizing thoughts etc).
$200.00 will provide housing for one attendee from SOY for a night so they can be well-rested for the next day of strategic planning.
$5000.00 in total will cover the total cost of the convening. This is our ideal goal! :)
We provide these cost just to help you visualize what your investment will support. Any amount is accepted and appreciated.
