Sofia's Story
This campaign is in honour of our ten year old daughter Sofia. Sofia was diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy at 10 months of age. Since then we have been working tirelessly to help her to walk independently. Sofia is a hard working girl who has courageously taken on this challenge. She gives her all at every therapy session while maintaining a smile. Sofia has also endured many painful Botox treatments to help alleviate spasticity and give her a window of opportunity to gain strength and new skills.
At this time, we feel that Sofia would greatly benefit from SDR surgery (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy) . This surgery is performed by Dr. Parks in St. Louis, Missouri.
We believe that SDR surgery will allow Sofia the opportunity to gain the skills she needs to live a free and independant life.
The cost of the surgery and therapy to follow would be upwards of $150,000. Surgery $100 000
Post Surgery Therapy $50 000
With all of the love we have for our child, we are asking for your help to make this miraculous change in the life of our daughter, Sofia. This surgery will allow her to walk, run and dance. She will be free.
