Bulgarian English Speech Tournament

Здравейте and greetings from Bulgaria! As most of you probably already know, my time as a Peace Corps volunteer in Macedonia led me to apply for a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Bulgaria.

Since September I have been teaching high school English in Sliven , the 8th largest city in Bulgaria, at GPZE Zaharii Stoyanov . With over 400 students, it's been quite an adjustment - and even more fun! We've celebrated holidays, played games, written penpals, and even done an international art exchange. You can see for yourself here!

Most recently, my students have gotten involved in BEST - the Bulgarian English Speech Tournament. This competiton gives students an opportunity to use their English outside of the classroom, by preparing and presenting poetry, prose, original oratory, and duos.

My school has an enthusiastic team of students ready to compete April 24-26 in Bourgas, but we still need a little extra help to cover the cost of lodging. My goal is for every student to get to go, regardless of their financial situation. Your generous contribution - however large or small - can make that dream a reality.
