Shannons Cancer Treatment - TX trip

So as many of you know, I was diagnosed with Stage III Lung Cancer in January of this year.  Since then I have gone through several rounds of chemotherapy & radiation..... which hasn't always been the easiest due to the weakness, nausea, sickies, pain, frustration, etc that comes with that.  But I have continued to push myself a bit because I'm just not ready to give up!  I think this girl still has a little more life in her... somewhere... we might not see it at the moment with the way treatments have taken a lot out of me BUT I think it's still there :) lol. 

However, even with all of the treatments I have gone through, the cancer has continued to spread.  At this point they have recommended that I go to MD Anderson in Houston, TX.  

There is a specialized type of radiation called Proton Therapy.  The advantage of proton treatment is that the physician can control where the proton releases the bulk of its cancer-fighting energy. As the protons move through the body, they slow down and interact with electrons, and release energy. The point where the highest energy release occurs is the “Bragg peak.” A physician can designate the Bragg peak’s location, causing the most damage to the targeted tumor cells. A proton beam conforms to the shape and depth of a tumor, while sparing healthy tissues and organs.  

The main advantage would of course be MORE TIME!  
The disadvantage is that I would have to go to Houston, TX for 10 days. So the cost involved with this treatment option is a bit out of my reach. 

So, in order to see if we can make this happen....

I have set up this Go Fund Me   AND  I'm scheduling some mini photo shoots (check out ShannonInez Photography on facebook for information on the photo sessions) to raise the money.  The money is needed to cover what medicaid does not cover, airfare, lodging and food.  

This is very difficult for me to ask... as many of you have done SO much for me since the very beginning.  I appreciate everyone's kind words, love, support & encouragement through this journey (battle).....
