Seniors' Night Out with KMB

It was over 25 years ago, but it seems like just yesterday that we were looking out at the smiles on the seniors’ faces during our first performance at the San Francisco Jewish Community Center. Ever since then, we’ve been dedicated to making live dance free for San Francisco’s senior community.
We are Kathy Mata Ballet, a non-profit, community-oriented, non-professional dance company. We typically perform in community venues such as dance studios, senior centers, and retirement homes. However, once a year, it is our tradition to host a Seniors' Night Out, where we invite seniors and the greater community to enjoy an evening at a professionally produced performance in a real theater. This fall, we will present our annual Showcase on September 12th at City College.
The majority of our showcase is produced by volunteers: 17 amateur and semi-professional company members, 4 professional musicians, and guest choreographers and dancers from various disciplines. Behind the scenes, volunteers keep things running smoothly—from costume needs to refreshments for the audience.
Despite all our volunteers, we still encounter significant operational costs. In order to properly rehearse and professionally stage our work, we need at least $2000 to cover the following expenses:
$715 — Theater Rental
$560 — 2 Months of Studio Rental for Rehearsals
$275 — Onsite Supervisor
$250 — Marley Floor
$200 — Light Technician
Please help us cover these costs to make the Seniors’ Night Out possible. Any funds raised in excess of $2000 will go towards renting rehearsal space for future shows for seniors at the Castro Senior Center, the Sequoias retirement home, or Lines Dance Center.
