Charlie's Chemotherapy Fund

Donation protected
My boxer baby Charlie was diagnosed with lymphoma this April. We caught it early and the vet is confident that with treatment he will live another year at the least with the hope of living 3+ more years. If he goes untreated, they said he'll live 2 more months. He's 6 years old with the average lifespan being 12 years, so he's only lived half of his amazing life.

As those who are closest to me know, my dogs are my everything. I give Charlie the royal treatment and spoil him to the max (especially since we received his diagnosis). There is no way I could live with myself knowing I didn't even try. So the vet has allowed me to set up a payment plan so I am able to treat him.

Charlie really has been my best friend since entering my life. I got him after a horrible experience with roommates and I decided to live on my own from that point on. The experience with my roommates was trauma inducing to say the least; I was even able to press charges. Charlie made me forget about it almost immediately and brought me instant happiness.

Charlie then saw me through a horribly abusive relationship. To this day Charlie doesn't trust men around me (aside from my brothers and dad.... And my husband though that one took time for him to allow!!) He will stand between me and a man and growl and snap if he feels they're getting too close or too angry. He's my little bodyguard, very proudly too.

As a personal therapy, I would walk Charlie 4 miles EVERYDAY on a bike path in DeKalb, IL. The walks really were a time of growth and serenity. Until one day a girl was murdered in the forest of the trail I walked with Charlie daily, including the day she was murdered. I had HORRIBLE anxiety and I couldn't help but think I was a potential target for that madman. Everyone said Charlie probably deterred him away from me as his victim. Which made me feel like Charlie could very well have saved my life.

As I struggled with anxiety from that, Charlie sensed it and would not leave my side. To this day he will sleep on the shower mat while I shower. He sleeps in bed with me every night and if I get up to get a glass of water or go to the bathroom, guess who always comes along!!

Charlie has honestly been like a therapy dog for me throughout my life. After all he's done for me, I feel I have to do this for him.

But it doesn't come cheaply and it's hard with a baby to make this all happen!! Any help would be beyond appreciated. You are helping to save the life of my best friend. I'd never be able to repay anyone for that... That's priceless.

Thanks for reading this mini novel.

PS: Yes, Charlie is the dog whose footprint I have tattooed on my foot. He is ALSO the dog who was stolen from me at one point but successfully brought back to me thanks to microchip
