November 2013
For Cindy and Scott Graham, life distilled into one day at a time on Nov. 8 2013. That was the evening Cindy
rushed her 43-year-old husband to urgent care because he couldn’t remember how he got to his Gardnerville
Ranchos home from Olson Heating & Air Conditioning, where he’s worked for years. A scan revealed a large
mass in Scott’s left frontal lobe. He was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno where he had
surgery four days later. The diagnosis is glioblastoma, an aggressive, rapidly growing brain tumor. For Scott Graham,
“the guy that never gets sick,” the diagnosis means he cannot work, and is facing a regimen of chemotherapy and
radiation as soon as he recovers from the surgery. Her husband’s illness, however, means one less income. And while
she has insurance, medical bills are piling up.
November 2014
Scott's recent MRI revealed new tumor growth. With careful thought and the wonderful suggestions of his many
doctors Scott started a new Chemotherapy last Friday, November 14th. This chemo is not a cure nor is it expected
to shrink the tumor it is just going to keep Scott with his loved ones just a little longer. The doctors did give him a time
line of 4 months if they are lucky. Cindy has made the very hard decision to work part time so she can spend as much
time with her husband as possible as well as get him to and from the doctor when needed.
