Supporting Safe School Dances

The School Dance Network has been a work in progress over the past 5 years.  It was launched by Richard Mattson who wanted to offer assistance to school administartors, parents (and DJs) who were concerned about the questionable lyrical content in the music being played at school dances.  School faculty members did not have the time to preview all of the music being released, much of which was just not age appropriate.  So the popular website began by screening music and creating a list of "safe songs" and "Do Not Play" songs.  

As the Nework website grew and attracted more and more schools it became apparent that there were several issues of concern at school dances. Objectionable language was only one.  Music that promoted alcohol, drugs, promiscuous sex and elicited inappropriate dancing were also issues that needed addressing.  

The School Dance Network is a website service that is provided at no charge to schools, parents and community leaders.  It has reached a point now, however,  where the network is needing to raise funds in order to sustain the on-going service.  The time and energy for music screeners and tech support services have become overwhelming.  

In order to keep the School Dance Network free and available and continue to do it's good work we are needing to reach out to those who are interested in our mission of making school dances safe and responsible (yet fun and relavent for kids) for some funding help.  

We hope that you can help.   If schools, churches, community organizations, youth groups, PTA's, and concerned parents and teachers will step up with a small donation we can reach our immediate funding goals and continue this good work, as the nework continues to grow.
