Bridgeport Tabernacle is an Adventist church located in the West End of the city of Bridgeport, in the state of Connecticut. Though located in Fairfield County Bridgeport is a perhaps the most disadvantaged city in the state.
The members of Bridgeport Tabernacle are primarily from the working class community and so our resources are meager. Nevertheless we have a strong commitment to meeting the needs of the people in our community. Because of this commitment we operate a Soup Kitchen each Sunday where we serve hot meals. A team of members led by an outstanding Chef donates their time each week to provide a full course meal for the homeless and less fortunate. Each Sunday between 150-200 hot meals are served. Each Wednesday we also operate a Food Pantry providing dry goods to the community and through this project we serve about 100 families weekly.
Each year on the Sunday before Thanksgiving the entire church family comes together, open our Fellowship Hall and provide a full course, sit down Thanksgiving Dinner to the people of our community. We serve in excess of 350 dinners each year.
Our church sanctuary and our facilities are in desperate need of repairs and renovations. All of the mechanicals in our building are circa 1952 and our kitchen from which the meals are prepared badly aging equipment. Our pews are literally falling apart and this past winter our heating system died.
As the pictures aptly illustrate we are in need of resources to bring some needed and necessary changes to our aging building.
In addition to all of the above we share our space with a First-day church at no cost to them.
We will be grateful for your kind, tax deductible support towards the following projects: Upgrading of our kitchen, new pews for the sanctuary, the replacing of our heating system, new lighting for our sanctuary and a new or used piano for our sanctuary. Your assistance will help us in our quest to serve our community.
