Emily's Scoliosis Treatment

This is Emily, a happy active, curious and loving almost 6 year old. She loves her mom, grandma, grandpa and uncle very much and her two dogs and four cats too.
Emily and her mom Jennifer live with Jen's parents, Sherry and Colin in Espanola ON. She goes to school at A.B. Ellis Public School and will be starting Grade 1 this September.
Unfortunately, Emily's beautiful and joy-filled smile doesn't tell her physical story completely. Just this August (2018) she went to Sick Kids Hospital where Emily's doctor diagnosed her with scoliosis with two abnormal curvatures of the spine, One at 38 degrees and a second at 30
How is scoliosis treated? With a brace that Emily will need to wear 24/7. She will need to wear a brace until her bones stop growing. Should the brace not be enough to correct the curvature, they could put her in a body cast, She may also require surgery to correct the condition as she gets older. The treatment will require many trips to Toronto's Sick Kids Hospital. While the brace and some of Emily's expenses will be covered by Ontario Health insurance there are many other expenses that are not. The funds would be used to pay for all these extra expenses. Emily will need to wear her brace under her clothes so she will require new clothing to cover the brace. She had her second appointment on 10 September where she was measured for her brace . She will need to return there on 22nd of September for the fitting. She also has a MRI scheduled in the near future. With monthly trips to Toronto scheduled, the costs will become greater. Emily's mom is on a fixed income and any donation big or small would be most appreciated.
