Save the Prairie Dogs HWY 89

Donation protected
Prairie dogs are always keeping an eye out for eachother.

Habitat Harmony, Arizona Game and Fish and Timberline Firearms and Training  will be relocating the prairie dogs August 8-21.    These relocation efforts are paid for strictly by donations.  Timberline Firearms and Training is working to help Habitat Harmony earn funds through donations to help these prairie dogs and others in the future.

Timberline Firearms and Training will start building at the end of August and have done everything they can to help move the prairie dogs.   "We are excited to be able to help in this way".
Hannah Griscom, Urban Wildlife Planner from Arizona Game and Fish and Elise Wilson from Timberline Firearms are helping to prepare the prairie dogs for relocation.

The importance of prairie dogs may be misunderstood when agriculture and housing infringe on their colonies.  They play an important role in grassland ecosystems in Northern Arizona by creating burrow systems for other species and a prey base for predators such as the endangered Black Footed Ferret.  Petrified Forest National Park will be receiving all the prairie dogs that we capture at the Copeland Lane property. The Arizona Game and Fish Department and local non-profit, Habitat Harmony, are working together with the land owners to capture, transport and release the prairie dogs to their new home.  We anticipate that they will do well in augmenting the existing colony and eventually providing a location to reintroduce black footed ferrets at Petrified Forest National Monument.  All proceeds will go to Habitat Harmony which will be overseeing the work.  The dollars will be spent on the labor needed to capture the animals, transporting them to their new home and other relocation expenses.

Thank you to everyone who has shown interest in this project, and the prairie dogs thank you too.
