We need your help to save Smith and Sayles Reservoir!

Smith and Sayles Reservoir is located in the Chepachet River subbasin and is 185 acres of pristine natural beauty. About 60 homeowners, the Glocester RI Land Trust, and the Audubon Society make up the shoreline. In recent years, the Reservoir has been attacked by invasive milfoil, which is a non-native weed that can grow up1-2 inches per day during the summer months. Not only can it eventually ruin the lake, invasive milfoil starves the local aquatic ecosystem of oxygen, effectively killing everything in its path. Left untreated, it will destroy the lake.

We have been utilizing a number of ways to improve the quality of our lake and manage milfoil including the annual drawdown, boat greeter program, manual weed pulls, suction harvester use, and education. In addition, this year the member voted to apply a chemical treatment. With all of these efforts we should be able to manage invasive milfoil but we need your help.

We truly believe we'll set a new standard for managing invasive aquatic plant life in Rhode Island and throughout New England.

Just a note, funds raised through this site are seperate from dues.
