SHADHINOTHA: Celebrating Bangladeshi Women’s Liberation through Art & Culture

What does Shadhinota mean to you? What does Liberation look like for you?

Through art and activism, exploring labor, gender, violence and migration, Naree Shonghothok will bring you a day of film, conversations with Bangladeshi activists, artists, performances, and art gallery featuring work of Taslima Akhtar and Jannatul Mawa.

This is a Chabisshe March (March 26th) Event commemorating Bangladesh Independence Day.

We are thankful to NYU for donating space for this event.  We still need to raise funds for the additional costs related to putting on this event including costs for an visual arts installation, promotional materials, performers, panelists, and more.

Any funds raised above our costs will go towards supporting the work of Naree Shongothok: Bangladeshi Women Organizing for Social Change which is dedicated to cultivating working-class Bangladeshi women’s leadership or women who are traditionally marginalized and do not have access to pertinent trainings, educational tools, funding resources, and organizational/non-profit affiliations to aid and strengthen their organizing projects.

Watch our video here featuring five Bangladeshi American community organizers.
