Sacred Shawl Society Shelter
Donation protected
The Pine Ridge Indian Reservation of South Dakota has been without a Shelter/Safe house for 8 years. Domestic violence on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation has reached epidemic levels. We currently have to take our women and children off reservation to ensure their safety. This creates a considerable hardship for our women and children. All people should have the right to feel safe. Recently Wild Horse Butte Community Development Corporation/Sacred Shawl Society, a tribal non-profit,has created the Sacred Shawl Society Shelter. A shelter has been developed and is now ready to provide services for women and children on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation with limited capacity. We have done this on very limited resources and with a great deal of hard work. One would assume that there is funding for programs such as a domestic violence shelters and we assure you that this is not the case. Your donation will help in the operation of the shelter with food and shelter costs. Any donations would be put to good use. You can like us on Facebook at Sacred Shawl Society for updates or on our web site at wildhorsebutte.org.
