Moms For Moms—Sponsor a Homeless Mom for Mother’s Day 2015
Imagine Spending Mother’s Day in a Homeless Shelter…
On Sunday, May 10th—Mother’s Day--Martha will wake up on a twin sized air mattress in a place that’s not her home, in a church rectory that’s repurposed to shelter the homeless. Her two children, aged one and three will be crying, both with runny noses and dirty diapers. By the time she gets them ready for the day and gets changed, she will be greeted by volunteers who she does not know very well. Though they will make her family breakfast, and try their hardest to be hospitable and welcoming, the fact remains that she is not spending this Mother’s Day in the comfort of home with the love and support of family. She is spending it in a homeless shelter. You can help make it better.
Support Homeless Moms This Mother’s Day
This Mother’s Day, join Family Promise of WNY in recognizing and supporting homeless mothers. We want to make this Mother’s Day a special one for the mothers in our program, but we need your help. For a small donation, you can sponsor a mom that is currently enrolled in our program, or has benefited from our shelter services in the past. This Mother's Day, we will be taking the families in our program out for a very special brunch, and treating the moms to a manicure / pedicure at a local nail salon. We'll also be providing current and former Family Promise program participants with gift bags, containing handmade jewelery by local artist Rysted, as well as makeup and lotions from Tony Walker & Co. Body and Beauty. All additional funds raised during this campaign will go towards supporting the Family Promise program, and will help ALL of the families we serve.
“Family Promise is valuable to me as a mother, because I know that my children and I are in a safe place, and that we’re not just a number. Though I’m going to find somewhere to live soon, I feel good knowing that I can always reach out to the volunteers or the staff. People truly care about me and my kids.
