Mother in Need of Prosthetic

Rey Suarez, current senior at CSUSM, has shared that his mother Victoria has suffered a serious injury. A recent fall has resulted in the fracture of the left femur requiring her to be bed ridden for, what doctors predict to be, 90+ days. What is most alarming to this situation may not be the injury to the amputated leg, but also the condition she is in. The mother of four children (our classmate included), has battled with breast cancer and resulted to the removal of her left breast in 2006. Due to medical complications, life-threatening infection, and diabetes this survivor has endured the removal of the lower part of her left leg in March of 2014 and has personally suffered the loss of independence.

Due to the family’s low economic status and past medical expenses, Victoria has had to opt out of continued medical attention at Tri-City Medical Center and is currently being provided with care and moral support from close family members at her home. The Suarez family has also been unable to save enough money to purchase a prosthetic leg, limiting Victoria’s mobility and affecting her self-esteem.

The goal that we set out to reach is to be able to aid the Suarez family in acquiring a prosthetic leg so she may again be mobile and be able to be independent. It is for these reasons that we solicit your help in an effort to aid our classmate and his family. We would be extremely grateful for any monetary donations, words of encouragement, or prayers you may be able to give. With Rey’s graduation approaching we feel that this would be a great gift to give. We hope you consider donating.
