Every dollar really does help. Russell's medical care has been costly and we are in debt. We have been fortunate to have a veternarian who has been willing to work with us financially.
We would also like to get Russell in a rehabiltation program to transition him into using 3 legs.
The team at Russell's vet clinic have been amazing and have been so supportive during this journey. We can not thank them enough for being so kind during this trying time.
Russell Brand is the adventerous type. On Saturday May 31st this clever fellow decided to escape his backyard to explore the neighborhood. He didn't even make it across the street. Russell was struck by a truck. Luckily our neighbors witnessed the accident and informed his mommy right away.
Russell was rushed to a local emergancy clinic. He was treated overnight for shock and stabalized. Russell's right upper front leg has a distal transverse radius/ulna fracture, his rear right paw has a degloving injuring, and he has multiple abrasions.
Today we followed up with his vet. Russell will need surgery to repair his front leg. Due to the expensive costs to just stabalize him we can not afford surgery. His bills have already reached a few thousand dollars. We are attempting to treat it with splints and decompression but even that is costly and an ongoing process. Which also may not heal properly. He will need continous wound care for the degloving injury to his back paw. He has atleast 6-8 weeks of follow up care. Not to mention the possibilty of complications.
Russell is currently crate confined. He can not walk, stand, or sit without assistance. Please help us get him back on all four legs. *Update* Russell is doing very well and has figured out how to use his crutch/leg.
Russell Brand is the sweetest dog you will ever meet. His pug companion Usul wants her buddy back. He is the arguably the cutest little dude in his house. He is loved greatly by his 6 human sisters and brother.
