My name is Aaron Hoff. I am 41 years old, born and raised on the island of Kauai. Crossfit Poipu was started in 2013 due to a deep passion of mine for the health and future of our youth.
At a very young age I got into drugs by casually drinking and smoking weed. By the age of 23, I was a full blown meth addict sucked so far into addiction that I was no longer recognizable or welcomed by many of my family and friends. I tried to commit suicide, seeing no way out. Miraculously, I got into an intensive treatment center on Oahu and was able to turn my life around. I have been sober now for 17 years and have worked with hundred of families and keiki over the years. I have witnessed many kids taken by drugs and alcohol here on Kauai, which led me to open the Crossfit gym in Poipu. For the past year and a half, all kids are welcomed for free. My program has grown tremendously and our kids are prospering. Many are turning their lives around, and that is what motivates me to take this program to the next level. The youth of Kauai are our future!
In 2014 we put on the First Annual Ultimate Hawaiian Trail Run to raise funds to sponsor our youth on Kauai so that they can freely participate in Crossfit. We were very successful, but this year I have been offered a larger space and although I have been slowly purchasing equipment with my own money, my goal is to have the new location open by September 1st.
In conjunction with this goal, the 2015 Ultimate Trail Run will take place on September 19, 2015 and 100% of the profits will go towards our youth. I will not make any money off of this event. I truly just want to impact the youth on this island in a positive way and give them a fair shake in life.
My goal, God willing, is to raise enough money for the equipment for the new facility by the September deadline.
