Robin McManus Scholarship Fund

In all of her many roles – wife, mother, friend, and teacher – Robin McManus exemplified love, grace, and a passion for serving others.

She fulfilled her calling to serve as an early childhood educator, teaching both the youngest children and the adults who hoped to become teachers themselves.  She believed every child was a gift to be nurtured and given the opportunities to fulfil his or her God-given potential.

On October 7th, 2010, Robin was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer, just two months after celebrating 5 years of remission from a previous cancer.  She fought the disease valiantly, always maintaining her faith and positivity.  Three months later, on January 7th, Robin passed away.

At the time of her diagnosis, Robin was teaching at the Kent State Child Development Center (CDC).  In honor and memory of her commitment to all children, the CDC established the Robin McManus Scholarship for Young Children to provide financial assistance for families to send their children to the CDC.

The CDC is a child development laboratory school, which simultaneously provides an excellent early education for young children, centered on the belief that every child is capable and competent, while also developing future teachers to be highly effective practitioners.  The CDC is committed to early education as an active process of learning through exploring, investigating and playing.

The McManus family has set a goal to raise enough money for the Robin McManus Scholarship fund to reach endowment status, ensuring it will continue to assist young children in perpetuity.  As friends, colleagues, or people committed to providing high-quality educational opportunities for children in need, we ask you to consider helping us reach this goal.

Robin touched many, many lives during her all-to-short time with us.  Please consider helping us continue her legacy.
