My Fitness Dream: Dani's Road to Pro

Welcome!! I'm Danielle "Dani" Schemm, and you are now a part of my journey to becoming an IFBB Professional Fitness/Figure Athlete! I'm 26, a full-time student, a full-time employee and an ALL TIME Fitness lover!
A little about the sport, NPC is the amateur bodybuilding organization that puts on competitions around the U.S. for athletes of varying ages, body types and degrees of muscularity. I compete in the Figure and Fitness categories, both of which involve posing for a panel of judges in a 2-piece suit, and Fitness requires a 2-minute choreographed routine to music, displaying strength and flexibility! The rush of being up on stage and entertaining the crowd with a routine full of tricks, splits and smiles, there's just nothing like it!
I decided in February of this year that I was going to compete. I was a competitive gymnast growing up, and with a year of weightlifting already under my belt, I was able to tap into skills I hadn't used in years to put together a routine that won me TWO Fitness Overall titles at my first TWO competitions! The Vancouver USA Natural and, the biggest amateur show in the nation, The Emerald Cup. I was also the Figure Overall Champion at the Emerald Cup, an accomplishment that had never been won by the same athlete before and something that continues to amaze and humble me!
So what am I asking for?! Well, this sport is demanding of your time, your body, your mental strength and also, your wallet! ;) The National Show I have decided to compete in and earn my IFBB Pro Card, is called Team Universe, on July 4th & 5th, in Teaneck, NJ. Flights, hotels, food, registration fees, tanning/hair/makeup and a new routine costume worthy of the big stage has added up to well over $2,500. Because of my placings at both shows, I have been blessed with sponsorship money that will reimburse a portion of my expenses. My goal through GoFundMe is to raise, $1,500.00! I KNOW we can do it!
I also wanted to take this opportuntity to express my gratitude for those who have already helped me come SO FAR in my journey. Kyle Osborne, my trainer/nutritionist as well as my boyfriend of 4 years, has been the definition of supportive and motivating. The girls and coaches of Save Fitness, led by Tanji Johnson (9x IFBB Fitness Champion), whose mentoriship has made my feel more confident and inspiring than I could ever imagine. My family, friends and co-workers who have never stopped believing in me, and who I know will see me through til the end! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart! <3
Becoming a professional athlete would literally mean the world to me. It would mean that all my sacrifice, sweat, tears, aches, triumphs and dreams were all worth it. It will allow me to continue to bring fitness into the lives of those around me and bring recognition to the sport! With training, school and work, I can juggle my time. But I can't make the money grow on those trees! Any donation amount is extremely valuable to me, and I promise, I won't walk onto that stage with anything but full determination to walk off, A PRO!
