Starting from the ground up, Caitlin Parker had a vision seven years ago to provide a Santa Cruz neighborhood with a friendly place that serves amazing local coffee and tasty homemade food at affordable prices.
That vision became the eclectic “little coffee shop that could”...
the Firefly Coffee House first opened in 2007.
This unique cafe was founded and built on the love, sweat, and laughs from our family and friends. Over time, people came from far and wide – artists, business people, creative minds, families, and many more -- to gather round our fire. These amazing people make the Firefly what it is today: A place where all can come and be on a level playing ground, where you can find the same welcoming faces, and where “there's always room at the bar.”
Now we're looking to improve, to make our next seven years as
remarkable as our first.
We at the Firefly Coffee House are hoping to raise $1,500 to:
-- Remodel our existing space to provide more efficiency in our unique space, including building bench seating, a bar along the windows on the inside, and a bar along the railing of the covered porch;
-- Collect reclaimed and recycled building materials, such as wooden pallets and paint;
-- Make improvements behind the bar, including maintenance to food- and coffee-preparation machines, and sprucing up the cafe's electrical system.
We seek the help of our Firefly family to improve your oasis of
coffee, comestibles, and camraderie. Donors will be invited to a customer appreciation party on October 25th, once the renovations are done!
