Refugee Hope

Refugee Hope is a charitable organisation that was set up following students experience of the current Syrian refugee crises. While in Jordan students raised £4500 through social media to initiate the charities primary relief project. Now with the support of Jordanian partners Refugee Hope is initiating a series of projects to support the day-to-day struggles refugees are facing in Jordan. We now need people to help support our initiative.

These projects will support our four encompassing aims: Empowerment, Sustainability, Dignity and Hope

In September 2013 Coventry University students launched a Facebook appeal in support of the current refugee crises unfolding in Jordan. At present there are close to 600,000 Syrian refugees living in temporary accommodation on the Syrian/Jordan border. After visiting and experiencing the lives of those living under such strenuous conditions the students raised a remarkable £4500 in under 48 hours to help provide basic provisions for the refugees.

Since returning the students have endeavored to continue the work they start through a formal charitable organisation. A leading project the charity will promote is raising money for basic, life sustaining relief items. With support from partners in Jordanian and the Universities regular visits to Jordan, relief aid projects will run under the Refugee Hope banner all year round.  We will continue to seek donors and raise money through fundraising events to ensure a steady stream of relief items are delivered to the communities of refugees that we have been working with. This is especially crucial in the lead up to winter as the temperature is dropping rapidly and the communities are finding it difficult to keep warm.

We now plan to support Refugee arriving in Europe alongside partner organisations.  This will include ascertaining the current  needs of the Refugees arriving on our shores and providing these emergency items through delivery of rapid needs assessments in Calais, Macedonia and Hungary.  Advocating to local and national governemnt in UK on stepping up the responsibility in acting on the crisis.  Increasing our social media and media prescence to ensure people are aware of the current situation.
