Reading is GOLDen Book Drive
One of the greatest blessings as a consultant with Usborne Books & More is being able to reach kids and families from all walks of life through books and connect with organizations who share the same passion as I do in making a difference in our communities.
We all know that cancer does not discriminate. Young or old, we all have been affected by it in one way or another. It is devastating when it affects and even takes the lives of loved ones at any age, but even more so when we have to explain to our own children that their friends, classmates or neighbors have to fight this battle and may not always come out victorious on the other side.
This is my 3rd annual Book Drive for Pediatric Cancer Awareness, and each year, the need to support this cause grows in its meaning as we meet new friends along the way on our book adventure or learn of yet another friend or loved one devastated by cancer.
Our book drive this year will support the Emilio Nares Foundation (www.enfhope.org), which provides rides to/from treatment centers & hospitals for underprivileged families throughout their treatment process. ENF was founded after the Nares family lost their son Emilio at the age of 6 to cancer. Their lifelong mission now is "to ensure no child misses a cancer treatment due to lack of transportation."
Your donations will be matched by 50% through our Literacy for a Lifetime program to help provide baskets of books and activities for patients to choose from as they "Ride with Emilio" to/from treatment.
In addition, any personal book purchases that you make from 9/7-9/14 under our event link will be matched by 50% in books AND proceeds will be donated to support Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research, a leading force in this war against cancer.
