Help Steve Lithgow stand on his own

Steve is a victim of a brutal attack while at work Dec 1 2011. He has spent 15 months in hospital and many trips to two different city hospitals for therapy. He cannot swallow so has a feed tube. He cannot stand, walk, sit up for long, etc. he needs 24 hour care. We have recently found a clinic aim 2 walk in which we drive 3 times a week for therapy, today he stood for a minute holding his balance. We are not the only ones who travel far people come as far as chatham and london area. One man from Chatham actually quit to go somewhere closer and is back to aim 2 walk.  We also have found a swallow expert in which he sees 3 times a week, today he swallowed and controlled his saliva. Yesterday a woman from Florida who has exhausted all other avenues has told Muhamed her son is coming to him.These two places are a 3 hour drive and are not funded by ohip. Steve was self emplyed and so often did what he could for people for free or a few jars if peaches.The justice system after a 3 year wait dropped the charges on the man that did this, not because he didn't do it but because a london crown came in and said an important person had changed their first report slightly. I lost my job and cannot work as I give 24 hour care to my husband. I cannot get help because steve is not terminal. Criminal comp has done nothing . Until you have been in a situation like this you find out how little or how below the standards our medical system is. How can we accept failure and not strive to be the best for our patients. It costs 30,000. Dollars a year for someone to be on feed tube. With aim2walk and Muhamed A Muhamed Steve has the best chance to get back. To be a taxpayer and help those who need. It is hard asking, we do what we can and there is not alot of help out there. We are asking for help with his therapies, not for bills, gas or a trip. Just for Steve. Steve says I just want to work. He is or was a hard worker and we both love to help others. His best chance at getting his life back is 2 places 3 hours away. God bless you all.
