Armature is the underlying, unseen, supporting framework that provides structure and stability to a work of art.
At ARMATURE, we believe in creating a space where all art becomes possible. Suited for any type of artist, or creative endeavor, ARMATURE is a place to cultivate relationships, collaborate with other creatives and to grow in your craft.
Recently, as many of you know, there was an accident that left our framework shaken. An uninsured driver crashed into our building, damaging walls, windows and supporting structures.
Thankfully, no one was injured and the damage can be fixed. In the midst of rebuilding and planning our next steps we have taken time to reflect as to how our space can best serve our community. In doing so, we have been reminded how important it is to be a light of creativity and collaboration.
While the name Armature refers only to the structure that contains the artists within her walls, what we at Armature strive to nurture is the synergistic collaborations created by our combined efforts. While ARMATURE is home to an eclectic blend of creators, innovators, changemakers and visionaries we also love providing space and support for the entire community to gather. The word Armature speaks not only to that which is created within our framework, but also to the support provided to this building by the Old Ironworks District and the greater Bend community. We all need support structures in our lives and we share the idea with many of you, that through collaboration, we are creating the strong, comprehensive foundations necessary to thrive.
To all of you who love spending time, creating, growing and celebrating life within the walls of ARMATURE, we are calling on YOU to collaborate with us! We want to grow your ideas, nurture your dreams and provide a sacred space in which to do it all. We are taking this opportunity to rebuild ARMATURE in ways that will allow for even more collaborative opportunities. Through this fundraising campaign we will be able to provide more amenities for events (think: projector and a sound system!), expand benefits to community fundraisers, enhance artist workspace, facilitate diverse workshops and create a multi-use outdoor area. We also hope to welcome new community projects into our space, such as non-profit meetings, school study groups, book clubs...and anything else you'd like to create.

We are planning our January 30th, “Last Saturday” to be a fundraising celebration of all that ARMATURE has accomplished and a launching pad from which to grow. We would like to invite you to not only join us in celebration, but also in collaboration. What can Armature provide to support your framework? How can our space grow to better serve our community? In what ways would you like to contribute? We will provide an opportunity to share your ideas, reflect on our successes, and offer respect to the strength of the framework that has supported us this far. We will also be featuring the awe-inspiring creations of local artist, Kaycee Anseth , who was our first resident artist! Food, drinks and music will complete the evening.
If you are one of our partners, who have spent time within our walls and believe in all that ARMATURE can be for our community here in Bend, please consider supporting us at this time. We would greatly appreciate if you could share this event and our future vision with anyone you think might share our dream. We honor the notion that not everyone is able to offer support in the same way.
