The List: Boston’s Queer Agenda -founded in 1995 (formerly called Hannah's List)-integrates the arts, Internet technology and social change to create cultural activism with a particular eye towards lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, alternative, women’s, and progressive communities, including our allies.
The List: Boston’s Queer Agenda is a free weekly email calendar of events and a free monthly housing and classifieds listings for the Boston and surrounding region. The List encourages networking and centralizes information about upcoming events, volunteer and job opportunities, apartment postings and community announcements.
More important, community connection helps to offset the marginalization and isolation that contribute to the high rates of depression, suicide, substance abuse, and victimization in the LGBT community.
The List is FREE to subscribe and FREE to submit a listing- lets band together to keep this gem of a resource totally accessible to all! To do that, we need your support.
The List is an entirely volunteer-run publication that we spend hours and hours on each week. BUT...we incur monthly costs for the website domain, host and listserv. Contributions made now will go toward our 2016-2017 costs. With enough contributions our next step is to build infrastructure so that:
* the production of the List is stable regardless of changing volunteers ;
* efforts can be put into seeking funding and sponsorship support to move from a year to year question of viability to a more secure future;
* to create a sustainable List that is not solely dependent upon 1 person to oversee all production and fundraising.
What would be a good amount to give?
For subscribers, think about it this way —have you met some new friends by attending a Queer Agenda event? Perhaps you found a new roommate? We publish 52 event lists per year, 12 classifieds lists and 12 housing lists for a total of 72 lists per year. Would you say that is worth a cup of coffee a month ($50 donation annually)? Or maybe you’d value it at $1 per list times the 72 lists per year? Whether you can give $10, $50, or more- every bit helps!
If you give $50 or more, you will be be a List Sponsor for that week- and can include a special message, missive, flyer, etc. Email us for details about this: volunteer at queeragenda dot org.
