Cuji's vet expenses

As some of you may know, we have four dogs.  Our oldest is Anna, a Fox Terrier with epilepsy; Cujo, our Daschund is our second in age that we got for our daughter after losing the cat she had since she was three, he is the one that is going through this ordeal right now; Yoda is our Pug that we adopted as a pup That ended up needing surgery to repair his hip; and

finally Kaya is our Klee Kai that we adopted from a rescue we are involved with.  and we deeply love them all.

On March 25, 2015 I went to take our dogs out for their morning "duties".  I knew something was up when Cuji wouldn't come out of his cage.  All he did was look at me. When I went to pick him up, I realized that he was not using his hind quarters at all.  Shortly after this myself and my daughter's boyfriend headed for our vets office in Eastern Passage.  We have always received the best care from Eastern a Passage Veternary Clinic and this time was no different.  They immediately took us in and knew straight away what was wrong.  Without hesitation, Dr. Selecki contacted the vets at the Atlantic Veternary College in PEI.  We had less than 24 hours from the time of initial rupture (sometime throughout the night) to complete the operation for optimal outcome.  Without hesitation Matt, my daughters boyfriend started making arrangements to take him over.

The surgeons assessed Cujo and determined he had IVDD (exactly what Dr. Selecki diagnosed)  and recommended a scan.  The scan determined that he had a rupture between the L3 and L4 in his back.  They completed the surgery just before midnight that same evening.  He remained there under supervision for the next five days.  He came home today.

The prognosis is 50/50 that he will walk again. We are praying that he does because this little guy loves being active.  He loves life.  He will need physical therapy, acupuncture, a wheelchair and lots of love.  His current vet bill is in the thousands.  Many thousands.
.
I dont ask ask for much in life but this is a huge hurtle for us to get over.  As most of you know, I lost both of my parents less than ten months ago and some of you may not know that they did not have any money, plans or insurance so we were left paying for both funerals out of our pockets.  They say things come in threes so I'm hoping this is it.  If you decide to donate to help, you will never find people that would be more grateful.  I don't want to leave this all on my daughter as she is still paying for her schooling.  If you decide to just read his story, we hope you keep him in your prayers.
