Gil Valadao passed away suddenly at the young age of 40 on Thursday, March 26, 2015, leaving behind his parents Jose and Maria Valadao, brother Joseph Valadao and 2 young nephews Liam Swanson-Valadao and Joseph Valadao-Casey.
Gil inspired a lot of people with his generosity, positive attitude and light-hearted spirit. He was a talented musician with a passion for music that was contagious and the life of the party wherever he went. Often times he cared more about others than he cared about himself, which made him such an amazing person and friend to so many people.
Those of you that got to know Gil, knew that he was nicknamed "Captain Festa" for his love of Portuguese feasts (festas). He loved every bit of his Portuguese heritage and enjoyed playing percussion in a band, playing trumpet for the St. John's band, and participating in the Carnaval tradition. He served as President of the St. John's Portuguese club in Stoughton for many years, donating his time and service in order to maintain the Portuguese traditions in our community.
Gil didn't have much, but what he did have were friends near and far that he genuinly cared about. He was the first person to lend a hand or offer support to a friend in need. Let's do our part to help Gil's elderly parents pay for his funeral costs. Every little bit helps.
