Please help save Lilo!!!!

Please help me save Lilo. He was diagnosed with an osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in his hind leg. The only hope is an amputation and chemotherapy. Without treatment Lilo is not expected to live but maybe a few months.  The amputation will get rid of his cancerous leg bone and take away the pain and the possibility of painful fractures or worse. The tumor is small and while this cancer is often already spread there is a chance that it has not. Plus the chemo could eradicate the cancer. even if not eradicated he still could live years longer.

He's only 8 years old and a sweet, funny and happy part of the family. Those of you who know Lilo know that he is a big , goofy chicken & will protect his family with all the strength he can muster. We've recently adopted an 11 year old foster child, Johnny, who has also become very attached to sweet Lilo. While we are bonding with Johnny it breaks my heart that he might experience yet more loss in his life so soon.

We're not ready to lose Lilo yet. He has a fighting chance with this treatment. Dogs are very adaptable at having a missing leg. Humans - not so much. While Lilo will look funny without one leg, he will no doubt be able to overcome.  It's not like Lilo is old and nearing the end anyway, he is only 8 years old. We've typically had large dogs live to 14-16 years in the Brown household!

Obviously the treatments are not cheap. About $4200 for the amputation and another $1300-$2100 for the chemo (4-6 treatments at about $430 each). I'm already out about $2000 for the emergency room visit, x-rays and bone biopsy. I am calling all my credit cards for credit increases and looking for everything I can sell. I will need to be close to my goal to have a chance.  I know some of you might think, oh he's just a dog, but many of you know better. He is a part of the family and brings joy and hope to my two boys.

Initially I was against this treatment, but I have done my research and this is absolutely the best option and it gives Lilo a fighting chance.  His tumor is small and localized so removing the leg could possibly get rid of it. The chemo will search and try to destroy any metastisized cells. They will also do more x-rays before the procedure to be sure it hasn't spread. If so, then the procedure will be cancelled and all money collected will be returned (please be sure to post your name so I know who to refund to, or at least initials so that I can figure it out).

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE

search the bottom of your heart and if you can contribute ANYTHING at all we would be forever in your debt. I will cook you a meal, wash your car, anything you need (within reason - and legal, mostly). Please also share on your wall so that maybe your friends could also help. I am begging. You all know that I don't like to ask for help. I've taken care of myself and raised my child solo, with no support. Lilo is more important to me than my pride. So again, PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!

Love to you all, peace,

Teri
